You know the old expression “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”?

It’s looking as though Elon Musk is regretting opening up the can of worms that is Twitter Blue as its relaunch has been postponed. After an initial rollout proved to be… a total mess (no, really, it was chaos) a new date was set to get it right – 29th November

However, as the ‘blue tick’ feature, which is used to verify legitimate accounts was made accessible to anyone who paid the subscription fee, the social media platform saw an influx of impersonation accounts.

What’s Going On With Twitter Blue?

It’s fair to say that since Elon Musk acquired Twitter that things haven’t exactly been running smoothly, with the announcement of the paid subscription service only part of the issue. Elon also faced backlash as he ‘let go’ thousands of staff, leading to many of the remaining employees leaving on their own accord.

This has raised concerns over the security of the site, with the depleted workforce struggling to tackle security issues, let alone the relaunch of Twitter Blue. So, as things stand, the already infamous service has been put on hold.

The Plot Thickens…

Whilst users have been speaking out not only against Twitter Blue, but against the sackings too, there have been more goings on which will certainly raise a few eyebrows and drop some jaws.

That’s right, amidst the chaos, Elon Musk himself held a poll asking whether or not he should reinstate Donald Trump’s Twitter account. Incredibly, the poll concluded that DT would in fact have his Twitter account reactivated…

To add further fuel to the fire, the artist formally known as Kanye West – now Ye – also had his account reinstated after previously being banned following anti-Semitic tweets. The move has caused some of Twitter’s charity partners to consider ending their relationship with the platform in light of the “inconsistent” policies.

Is Twitter Dead?

Not yet, but likening the platform to a sinking ship would not be a stretch.

Whether we’ll see the total collapse of Twitter or a transition into what some are already calling a “hellsite” remains to be seen. Many are fleeing the site, including celebrities such as Whoopi Goldberg, Pedro Pascal and Gigi Hadid.

Should you stay or should you go now? Maybe leaving would help you avoid a ‘Clash’ (wink wink) with some dodgy accounts…
